At our school we endeavour to develop the whole child and part of that development relates to co-curricular activities.
We offer a number of sporting and cultural activities, together with a series of education opportunities outside the classroom.
All children are required to take part in physical education during class time. If there is a medical reason why your child cannot participate, please send a note in with your child to their class teacher.
Swimming: This is part of the New Zealand Curriculum, and children are expected to take part in these lessons.
We continue to teach physical education every week. These lessons are based on the current needs of the children such as ball skills. We participate in the North Counties and Central Counties Sports.
Whanau and the community are invited to attend and support their children in all sporting events.
Sporting equipment is available for all children to use during breaks. P.E. monitors are chosen based on leadership skills.
Sporting events are not possible without parent/caregiver support, and we appreciate any help with training/coaching, transporting, timing, setting up etc. Please let the office know if you can assist in any way.
Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) is an important part of school life at our school.
The interactions that take place while students are involved in learning outside the classroom are rich opportunities for implementing many aspects of the NZ Curriculum.
The experiences students have together beyond the classroom are important not only because of the learning that occurs for each individual student but also for the shared experience that teachers can draw on afterwards for further learning opportunities.
